Zumbathon!
Members of Cheltenham Sparks both participated and helped at Zumbathon that was organised by the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. The even raised over £10,000 - so well done to all those involved. You can read more on the Sue Ryder website.
Vibrant , Professionals Wanted!
Cheltenham's newest and hippest Rotary club is looking for new members.
After months of campaigning for younger members, Rotary International welcomed Cheltenham Sparks to its family. Cheltenham Sparks has turned the perception of Rotary on its head, with a new club full of young professionals.
Cheltenham Sparks is made up of 24-45 year olds, who want to help the community, whether it is fundraising or getting stuck in with DIY skills, no job is too small for this Club.
However, not just by turning the perception of Rotary on its head by age, 80% of Cheltenham Sparks members are women!
Genevieve Du Bois, President of Cheltenham Sparks says; "The idea of the Club is to make friends and to help the community. We have already thrown our weight behind some of the wonderful charities in Cheltenham. But we what we need now to make the Club even more of a success is some man-power!"

DIY with County Community Projects
Saturday 14th May saw some of the Sparks spend a day doing their second DIY project with County Community Projects.
Happy Birthday Sparks!
On Wednesday 11th May the Sparks took a break from their usual meeting and instead went out for a meal to celebrate the first anniversary of the club's first meeting.
Midnight Walk
Saturday 7th May into the early hours of Sunday saw Jeni, Michelle and Sarah participate in Cheltenham's Sue Ryder Midnight Walk. The girls walked 10km around a rainy Chelteham to raise funds for the Leckhampton Court Hospice.
DIY with County Community Projects
Saturday 5th February saw some of the Sparks helping out with a CCP project by doing some painting and decorating. You can

Charter Granted
As of 22nd December 2010 Cheltenham Sparks is an official Rotary Club as RIBI have granted us a charter. This is a terrific achievement for the club and congratulations go out to all members of the club. We would like to thank all those who have helped us along the way.
County Community Projects
The meeting of 8th December featured a talk by County Community Projects (CCP), which exists to improve the lives of children, young people, families and vulnerable adults who have multiple and complex needs. The talk gave some background information on CCP and led to a discussion about how Cheltenham Sparks might help CCP in the future.
The Elephant Man
On Wednesday 1st December David Lemon, sometimes know as "The Elephant Man" attended our meeting to talk to use about African elephants. After telling us of his love for elephants David went on to tell us that he thinks African elephants are far more endangered than is generally thought. Children Nepal
Our first meeting of December also saw a visit from Ram Chandra Paudel - the President of Rotary Club
of Pokhara Midtown, Nepal (district 3292) who happened to be in Cheltenham for a few days. He told us something of his work with CHILDREN-Nepal, which is a non-governmental social organisation working for the rights and development of children and their families, living and working in difficult circumstances in Pokhara, Nepal.
Emmaus Cheltenham
After Neil Booker of Emmaus Gloucestershire attended our meeting on October 6th, many of the Sparks spend a couple of Sunday's giving their Cheltenham shop (19 Henrietta Street, Cheltenham, GL50 4AA) a lick of paint.
Run 10k in Gloucester
We have been asked to help out with the marshalling of the 10k run being help in Gloucester on 3rd October to raise funds for Cancer Research.
Building Circles in Gloucestershire
Some of the Sparks will be helping The Social being held by Building Circles in Gloucestershire on 9th October at St. Christopher's Church Hall, Warden Hill. The event, which is intended to provide social contact for people with learning difficulties, will include musical entertainment, activities and a buffet lunch. Read more...
Quiz Night
Race For Life
The first weekend of July saw several club members assisting Cheltenham Sunrise Rotary Club with the marshalling of Race For Life, which was held at Cheltenham Racecourse to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
